QueueCut uses technology to connect and bring people the best food for them to enjoy at the fullest and at their convenience. We strive to innovate new products and continuously improve our products to keep abreast with the latest technology for our customers to maximize the benefits of digitalization.

Our mission is to become a one-stop solution for food ordering and delivery platform for all to enjoy.

As we run our app, we wish to work together with both hawkers and consumers to continue to improve and enhance our app feature and functionality.

The Beginning

I grew up in a hawker family where my mom had been struggling for years to feed our family from hand to mouth. She had to wake up early in the morning and work long hours just to receive meagre earnings. But business started to change when the COVID-19 pandemic started.

My mum and sister continued to operate their stall even during lockdown. As usual, they waited for customers to walk in, but little did they expect it will have a huge impact on their business. With little walk-in customers to dine-in and takeaway, they were faced with lots of leftover food and ended up having to throw away most of the food.

Test & Error

They tried approaching the food ordering platform to understand how it works. But after much consideration, they decided to turn down these platforms. They were unable to afford and cope with these high commission and onboarding fee charged by these food ordering platforms with their low profit margin. Eventually, they were forced to temporarily close their business during the pandemic until the government started to ease the COVID-19 restrictions.

Seeing them struggling to continue with their business, and as an IT graduate, it inspires and drives me into developing a zero-commission food ordering platform for hawkers. My aim is for hawkers to spend lesser time in managing their orders and reduce their operating costs with lesser manhour needed. More time and capital will be used to focus in increasing their revenue and expanding their businesses instead.

Overcome the Challenges

As a first-time app developer with zero experience, we met with lots of unexpected challenges while working on the app. Faced with fund and manpower shortage and the app coding and programming complications, we deal and overcome them carefully and tactfully. We even got rejected when applying for grant as we do not fulfil the eligibility requirements. It is really a long journey of failures and hardship which we thought we are unable to pull through.

However, with strong team perseverance and determination, we strive towards our mission and goals to ensure our app is successfully launched. Finally, after working on it for more than one year, our dream to make it happen has come true. We really hope it can help hawkers to reduce their work and increase their revenue upon using our app.

Future

This is just the beginning of our chapter. We will continue to face and overcome more challenges in the future. As we run our app, we wish to work together with both hawkers and consumers to continue to improve and enhance our app feature and functionality.
